CGI Art

CGI: Computer Generated Imagery

Well I'm definitely not an expert on CGI, I'm just starting to get into it. This scene and texturing was done with the first version of Truespace using meshes from the Star Wars Mesh Alliance. It seems as soon as I learn a new software a brand new and better version comes out and I have to go through the process of learning a new version again.

Low-cost Reusable Orbital Space Plane

An idea I was playing with. A 3 man reusable orbital space plane. It is a lot smaller then the space shuttle. The crew cab is about the size of the Apollo capsule. Actually the crew cab is almost identical to the Apollo capsule. It has an escape tower during launch, so it would be able to separate the crew cab from the rest of the spacecraft  incase of a vehicle break up. It then can parachute back to earth. Even during re-entry the crew cab can separate from the shuttle's main body if it starts breaking up. It then can continue re-entry like the old Apollo capsules would. I used Truespace and overlaid my CGI rocket over an Apollo Saturn rocket photo.

Artificial Gravity Space Station

Another idea I was dreaming about, an artificial gravity space station. This again was done with Truespace. The space station would rotate like a wagon wheel creating gravity on the outer edges. The three man shuttle would dock on the center part of the station. There would be little or no gravity at the center of the rotating space station. The shuttle crew would then enter the space station through the nose of the shuttle. Like the Apollo astronauts would move from their Apollo capsule to the Lunar Lander.

Animation

Here are some simple animations I did using Truespace. (coming soon)
